With a repertoire of dozens of designs, Vera brings her sitter into the design of what she paints, and is more than happy to create custom designs, From a personalized bouquet of flowers, to a full-face (and -head) Venetian mardi gras mask, to a dinosaur playing catch.

The art of mendhi (also spelled mehndi and mehandi) is ancient, used to celebrate major life events as well as for decoration. It is a moment to take a serene breath and indulge in beauty. Vera is well-versed in making gorgeous henna designs, both traditional and intricate, and modern and sophisticated. Of course it's an extra delight to do custom designs and go with the creative flow of the moment. She makes her own henna paste using pure henna leaf powder and all-natural ingredients - certainly not "black henna" (PPD - NOT a henna derivative!) as has recently been discussed in the news. These ingredients give a wonderfully dark stain without the addition of mystery and sometimes dangerous "boosters". She always displays the ingredients of her mix for peace of mind and to avoid the possibility of allergic reactions, such as to lemon juice.
